It's such a lovely time now in Portland and the rest of the Pacific Northwest with the promise of spring in the air and a fantastic year of music ahead. I just recently arrived back after about a year long sojourn to my home state of Texas after the passing of my mother back in March 2017, which was not unexpected due to her failing health, but still a vast and profound change in our family's life. So I spent the summer and fall in Houston closing up shop on our family home, grieving, writing new music, connecting with dear friends and going through our family's history and of my own childhood. So as they say one door closes and another opens.
My trip there and back again and the months and miles in between were full of lovely events and many adventures, including getting to perform a couple of concerts with the world famous Evergreen Chorale in Colorado, and as always some great house concerts and guest appearances at some of my favorite churches. Throw in my first trip to Ireland, acquiring a couple of new guitars from Stephen Marchione in Houston, attending the NAMM show in LA last month, and working on a new recording project with old friends David Michael and Benjy Wertheimer, and I'd call a quite a full and inspiring year.
May you find the same in your upcoming year and perhaps I'll see you down the road or on the other side of the hill!
